Danelle Johnson work from home licensed artist, wife, mom to 2
Alison Connors I am a mother of three, wife of one, a registered nurse, an author and a licensed artist with Creative Imaginations. I think that is enough!
Christine Adolph This blog is about my licensed products, my art, what inspires me, projects and ideas, art and craft techniques and a little personal stuff thrown in here and there.
I love making backgrounds for my art projects, and paper crafting projects. Creating Backgrounds allows me to experiment with all kinds of supplies, that i might not normally use in paper crafting...Like Krylon spray paint.
I used one of my prototype stencils that Creative Imaginations is shipping later this spring to create the roses. I love using metallic paints since the create a great resist for my Twinlkling H2o's
Choose your colors, and since Twinkling H20's are dry cake water colors....spritz them a bit to get them ready to paint with.
I used this background to cover my new inspiration note book
I have never liked things to be traditional...pink bunnies for Easter, Red for Christmas, I like things a little bit different, more reflective of my personality. Its my inner rebel shining through.
I decided to make some easter egg with a mixed media flare, using some of my favorite supplies. Vintage Sewing Patterns, Collaging, Unity Stamps, Luminarte etc. Check out the video for a tutorial and some simple tips to make collaging the eggs easier to complete
I have been working off and on today, like a busy little bee.... on some cool Mixed Media eggs...I collaged the eggs with vintage sewing pattern paper, used my Itty Bitty Unity Stamps, a little Twinkling H2o's, Stickles, and...a lot more. this is just one of several that will show up in tomorrows Tutorial on YouTube. Have a great night :)
This year i am going to post several ideas for decorating eggs...especially since easter is all the way at the end of April it gives me plenty of time to experiment. The first few are using LuminArte's Twinkling H2o's and Foils by Creative Imaginations.
if you want to try this yourself....check out the video Maddy and I made, there are a couple of tips you may find helpful.
A reminder to log off FaceBook and YouTube....or your kids will play tricks on you like mine did......And no. I have no plans to switch to a singing career......And I am pretty sure I will continue to embarrass my children forever, after all, it "is" my job!
Just like everyone else...life these past couple of years has been a bit tough. Lucky for me my coping skill is my art. It has always been my outlet....as far back as i can remember i have loved to make things, and when i make things i feel like i am wrapped in a cozy blanket of comfort. I feel the need to be creative everyday. It is who i am. I was told, that art and i are one and the same...Art is the one constant in my life, and my teaching is my adrenaline rush.
I noticed recently that Maddy my 10 year old is a lot like me....dont get me wrong, i have always known we were similar. I can honestly say her coping skill is creativity as well. She has been helping me lately filming several of the YouTube videos that i uploaded (Kennedy helped with the others)...and we have a blast doing it together. Maddy has an eye...you cant teach that, she already has it. The other day we were working....i was getting frustrated, stressed out and about to cry ,and she said....."Oh mom, thats why you have me to make you laugh....and I love art!" She is right....
Yesterday we made this video, and you can hear her humor and see that she truly does make me laugh and keep me sane. She took this pic last night of us...her messy do...and me no makeup, hair not done. our best accessory...our smile after a really big laugh(she brings me joy)
Yesterdays video was about how i paint with my fingers...yes...I do...often. I like my fingers, mostly because i can always find them, and also because they are very easy to control LOL.
Love how the mica photographed in this picture....you can really see how beautifully the Twinkling H2o's are on the Petaloo flower.
I love fabric....I love ribbon. I have collected both for as long as I can remember. Like most mixed media artists fabrics and ribbons find their way into most of our projects. I love when i am able to customize or colorize or "make" my own ribbon. Today's ribbon is made from torn muslin...you could use old bed sheets that you pick up at a garage sale for much cheaper than yardage.
Enjoy the video...make sure you expirement at home with twills, twine, rick-rack. fabics...I would love to see what you do. The photos below are all samples using torn muslin ribbon.
I did a video for a "Salt Technique" using Twinkling H2O's by Luminarte. I thought I would share some of the still here, since I think they are so pretty. If you are interested in the technique the video will be at the bottom of this post.
all my little pretties laying out to dry
all ready to decorate.
can you see the mottled mica right by the flower?
The salt made a very defined look on this tag....you can really see a separation of the pigments...so pretty!
If you like the salty effects....check out the video for a step by step tutorial.
SO I talked to the powers that be at CI....and they said if you subscribe to my YouTube CHannel. Creative Imaginations will give away 3 large pots of Twinkling H2O's to one of the first 150 subscribers. We will draw your name as soon i reach 150 and you and i can pick out your three fav colors! The awesome Staff in Huntington beach will ship it out so we can play together with our Fabu paints(same will go for the second 150, and so on) ♥ ♥ ♥
There is something so rewarding about repurposing things that were bound for the trash can or recycle bin. Ever since i was a little girl i found it really hard to throw paper or scraps of fabrics away....or anything that seemed to have another life left in it. I love Sewing pattern tissue...no matter how used, wrinkled, cut up it is....it is beautiful especially when made into paper posies
